Look after the safety and survival equipment used by aircrew
The Job
Survival Equipment Fitters look after the wide range of safety and survival equipment that RAF aircrew rely on. They are based on operational flying stations, usually in one of the specialist bays used by aircrew. As a Survival Equipment Fitter, you’ll be responsible for repairing and maintaining life rafts, air-sea rescue equipment, life preservers, parachutes, ejection seat components, flying helmets, oxygen masks and pressure suits. You’ll service equipment, rectify faults, install modifications and generally assist aircrew with their survival equipment. Attention to detail and a highly methodical approach are essential.

Usual service: 9 years
Open to: men or women
Qualifications: 2 GCSEs/SCEs at grade G/6 minimum or equivalent in English language and maths
Nationality: Citizen of the UK, the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland since birth; or a naturalised British citizen
