ServiceIntegrated Drug Treatment Service (IDTS) Job TitleSenior IDTS Nurse Hours37.5Salary Range£29,099 - £30, 492Reports toIDTS Service/Project ManagerPurpose of JobAs directed by the IDTS Manager Manager, the post holder will provide a nurse led prescribing service offering access to assessment/care planning and a range of clinical interventions to prisoners referred as part of the IDTS initiative.Key Activities:•Engaging with prisoners who have substance misuse problems and providing them with advice, assessment and clinical interventions to address their drug issues and work alongside the designated Doctor to offer substitute prescribing regimes to improve health & social functioning.•Providing sound evidence-based clinical practice to facilitate effective treatment decisions.•Initiate patients safely on to a treatment regime and ensure that procedures are constantly reviewed to promote best evidenced based practice in accordance with UK Guidelines on Clinical Management and our clients clinical protocols and procedures.•Offer a practice and supervisory lead to IDTS Nurses as part of the overall DIP initiative in accordance with CRI policies and protocols.•Manage the prescribing service with responsibility for clinic management, monitoring & evaluation and service development.•To ensure the smooth transition of service user\'s clinical needs (including prescribing) into community drug treatment systems on release.•Receive regular clinical supervision provided by CRI and maintain a current knowledge of appropriate interventions with regard to substance misusing offenders.•To carry out comprehensive assessments and to contribute to the development of care plans and referrals to psychosocial interventions, DIP and other supporting agencies in the community.•Develop and review care plans, provide health education especially in regard to harm minimisation, blood borne viruses and overdose prevention. •To ensure that all data requirements in relation to clients are met within deadlines•Refer and Liaise with other departments involved with the prisoners broader care plan including CARAT\'s, Healthcare and Offender Management•Provide support and guidance to colleagues within the IDTS team.General terms of reference:In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:•Work flexibly across operational sites as required.•Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision.•Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge and skills.•Participate in appraisal, training and supervision processes.•Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation and practice relevant to the relevant client group.•Ensure the implementation of all our clients policies
